Tim A. Burson, 71, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025 in Divine Schoenbrunn Healthcare, under the care of Ohio’s Hospice, after a period of declining health from ALS.
Born in Dover, Tim was a son of the late Walter Lloyd and Minnie Rose (Bassiletti) Burson.
Tim worked for Marsh Industries for many years. He was a member of the Carl Stoller Post 1445 VFW as well as the New Philadelphia Elks 510. In Tim’s free-time he enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, biking and gardening. Recently, he began to play pickleball and could be found on the court multiple days a week. When the children were younger, Tim and Patty would spend a month at Atwood Lake camping, boating and swimming with them. Family was central to Tim’s life and he was a dedicated Father and Papa. He enjoyed watching the kids and grandkids in different events.
In retirement, Tim was a volunteer at the Supper Table at 1st United Methodist Church as well as delivering Mobil Meals. He was an avid New Philadelphia Quaker fan, attending as many sporting events as possible. Tim and Patty also enjoyed a special friendship with Dennis and Susie Reiger. They could always be found sharing a holiday meal, picnicking, or fishing together.
He is survived by his wife the former Patricia Beaber whom he married on November 19, 1977; his son, Daniel (Chrissie Gerber) Burson of New Philadelphia; daughter, Rachel (Travis) Marchant of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren, Nico Burson, Tripp Marchant, and Payton Marchant; sisters, Carol Rieger, and Cherl George; best friends, John Hunter, Marc DeMeo, and Roudy West; and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kim Burson, and Jeff Burson; and best friend, Chico DeMeo.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Rev. Harley Wheeler will lead a funeral service in the funeral home chapel beginning at 12:00 PM. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the ALS Association of NE Ohio, the ALS Group at Mellon Center at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital and all the doctors, nurses, aides, and therapists for their help. They would also like to honor the staff at Divine Rehab and Nursing at Schoenbrunn, and Angie at Richards Medical for their exemplary care.
