Thomas R. Owens

Thomas R. Owens, age 60, of Dover, died Saturday, July 02, 2011, in Union Hospital at Dover following a two year illness.Born at Massillon, Ohio on July 27, 1950, Tom, as he was known to family and friends, attended Tuslaw High School.On August 29, 1969, Tom married the former Carol Klett and together reared one son.For 35 years, Tom was the owner and operator of Tom’s Auto Repair at Dover. He enjoyed spending time with his wife as they toured the countryside by motorcycle. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandsons as well as reading and listening to music. Those who knew Tom were aware of his caring and generous personality. He was always willing to help others when a need was presented.In addition to his wife of 41 years, Tom is survived by a son, Jeff (Alisa) Owens of New Philadelphia; a brother, Jay “Chip” Owens of Mechanicstown; two grandsons, Johnathan and Nathan, and numerous nieces and nephews.There will be no public visitation or services. Cremation will be cared for by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.Those wishing to do so may direct memorial contributions in Tom’s name to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
