Thomas L. Lawless

Thomas L. Lawless, age 78, of Dover, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.A son of the late John L. and Margaret A. Lab Lawless, Thomas was born at Dover on May 14, 1932.Thomas was a 1950 graduate of St. Joseph High School at Dover and enlisted into the United States Air force.A life long member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Dover, Thomas served his church as an usher. Additionally, he enjoyed football and for many years worked for the former Brinker Supply at Dover where he was employed as the parts manager.Thomas leaves behind two sisters, Mary Lou (Thomas) Hutras of Dover and Marie Scalambrino of New Philadelphia. Numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, the former Aljean Bigler whom he married on October 20, 1987 and two sisters, Joni Martin and Germaine Lawless; and a brother, Neal Lawless.In keeping with Thomas’ wishes cremation will take place without public visitation. A memorial mass of the resurrection will be celebrated by Father Matt Hoover in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Dover on Friday, September 24, 2010, at 10AM. Burial in Calvary Cemetery at Dover will follow where members of the Dover VFW will render military honors.The family requests that memorial contributions in Thomas’ name be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 613 N.
