Thomas H. Rogers, 54, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, following a long, hard, courageous battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.A son of the late John and Marjorie Powell Rogers, he was born October 14, 1950 in Cambridge, Ohio.Tom was a 1969 graduate of New Philadelphia High School; he received his B.A. from Kent State and a masters degree in education administration from Ashland University to pursue his dream of being a school district superintendent. During his years of schooling and prior to beginning his career with Buckeye Career Center Tom operated Rogers’s family restaurant along with his parents. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Philadelphia.No greater Yankee fan has lived in the Tuscarawas Valley than Tom Rogers with the exception of his father John. He had even named his Boston Terriers “Babe” (Ruth) and “Yogi” (Berra). He was also an avid Ohio State fan as well as enjoying the game of tennis. Yet with all these passions it was his two daughters that never left his thoughts and the two persons he was so very proud of.Tom is survived by his wife Bonnie Rogers whom he married August 12 1977; two daughters, Tori Jo Rogers (Darrin Vaughan) of Bolivar, O., and Tara Lynn Rogers and her fiancé Seth Pringle of California; two sisters, Mrs. Carole (Gene) Patrick, Patricia (Butch) Pompey both of New Philadelphia; one brother Mike (Judie) Rogers of California; and his many loving nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Friday August 12, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center 5600 North Wooster Ave., Dover. Services will be Saturday at 1p.m. at the Geib Funeral Center, Dover.
