Thomas David Warner, 63, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness.A son of the late Edgar and Margaret (Eckert) Warner, Tom was born March 18, 1944 in Union Hospital at Dover.Tom was a 1962 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Following graduation, he went to work for Greer Steel where he worked as a head roller grinder for 44 years.On October 28, 1967, in St. Joseph’s Church at Dover, Tom married the love of his life, the former Paula Franz. Together, he and Paula raised two wonderful daughters, Sherie and Jennifer. Tom was a member of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia as well as the Dover V.F.W., the New Philadelphia V.F.W. and the New Philadelphia Elks. He enjoyed playing cards and he always looked forward to Tuesday evenings when he would play cards with a group of special friends.He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, woodworking, gardening and old cars, but his greatest love in life was his family, and especially his grandchildren. Tom was always at the events of his grandchildren and the love he had for them was obvious anytime he spoke of them by the quiver in his chin.He is survived by his loving wife, Paula Warner; daughters, Sherie (Rob) Lindsay of Dover and Jennifer (Jimmy) Cooper of Massillon; grandchildren, Brennan Robert Thomas Lindsay and Chloe Eve Lindsay and Chris James Cooper and Madison Jeanne Cooper; brothers, Joseph (Marge) Warner of Canton and Charles “Bob” Louise) Warner of New Philadelphia; sisters, Carol Warner and Dorothy Storrie and Elizabeth “Liz” Cardani all of New Philadelphia; 29 nieces and nephews; 48 great-nieces and great-nephews and 10 great great-nieces and great great-nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Warner, one sister, Mary Johnson and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Virginia Franz.Family and friends may call on Thursday, June 21, 2007 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Christian wake service being held at 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m. Those wishing to join the funeral procession to the church should arrive at the funeral home prior to 10:15 a.m. Following the funeral mass, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Memorial contributions may be made to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, 11100 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106, in honor of Tom’s granddaughter, Madison Cooper.
