Thomas C. White, a worldwide hunter, age 70, of New Philadelphia, departed for his last Great Safari on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 while doing what he loved, hunting.Born December 1, 1939 at Dover, Ohio, he was the son of the late Thomas L. and Viola (Alesiano) White.Tom was a 1958 graduate of Dover High School and retired from AK Steel in 1996.He was a man who enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was on an African Safari, hunting deer or turkey, fishing, hiking or trapshooting. Tom was a man of many talents and was a mentor to many. He also enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren and friends.He will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Barb (Swinderman) White, whom he married on January 22, 1960. He also leaves behind his children, Terri (Ron) Smith, Scott (Trish) White and Jodi (Chuck) Davis and his grandchildren, Nicole and Hunter Smith, Natasha and Scotty Borntrager and Conner and Garret Davis.Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.In keeping with Tom’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. A memorial service celebrating Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. in St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover. A memorial reception will follow in the social hall at the church.The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Tom’s memory to the National Rifle Association, P.O.
