Tom Adamich died April 11, 2025 surrounded by family and friends at Park Village South in New Philadelphia. Born Thomas Eugene Adamich on October 20, 1936 in Wadsworth, Ohio to Anthony and Mary (Slota) Adamich, Tom spent his youth in Barberton – growing up in the Johnson’s Corners neighborhood. He attended Barberton schools and went on to attend the University of Akron and Ohio University, the latter at which he studied electrical/mechanical engineering.
Tom worked at Imperial Electric in Akron in motor engineering/sales and met Dorothy Jean Pavelchak who he married on May 13, 1961. They were married for 55 years before her passing in 2017. Tom later filled various roles at Joy Manufacturing in New Philadelphia before starting The Electrical Associates, a motor design and marketing firm, in 1973. He would represent Hertner Electric in Cleveland, and it was Dorothy who would serve as his first office manager in addition to her elementary teaching duties for the New Philadelphia schools.
Tom would relocate his family (which includes daughters Julie and Lisa along with son Tom) to Seminole/Largo, Florida in 1979 to serve both commercial and military customers. He would later return to Ohio, retire in 1991, and spend the next 20 years in Florida during the winter months in addition to travel throughout the U.S. and worldwide.
Tom was proud of his Slovenian heritage and being a first-generation American. He enjoyed music, dancing, art/architecture (designed and built 2 homes), hunting, and a host of other hobbies. He was a Catholic and longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia. Tom was also a life member of New Philadelphia Elks #510.
Tom is survived by daughters, Julie Adamich-Scheblein (Karl Scheblein): Lisa Adamich (Jeff Warner); son, Thomas A. Adamich (Stacey Cullen); grandchildren, Michelle (John) Iannelli and Nicholas (Brittany) Billiris; step-grandchildren, Lauren (Jay) Weiss, Kristen Scheblein; great-grandchildren Matthew and Olivia Iannelli and Michael Billiris; and step-great-grandchild, Sydney Weiss.
