Theresa Hollingsworth

Theresa J. Hollingsworth, 87, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, August 2, 2015 in Bethany Nursing Home at Canton following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Eugene and Josephine (Downing) Gallineri, Theresa was born November 28, 1927 at Uhrichsville, Ohio.

Theresa graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1945. On June 23, 1947 she married Carl Hollingsworth and the couple shared 50 years of marriage prior to his passing on September 14, 1997.

She was retired from the former Montgomery Ward Department Store where she worked as a Service Clerk for more than 32 years. Theresa was a member of the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. She was also a member of the Lady Elks #510 and the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sister, Helen Alexander of Canton; a half-sister, Vera Myers of New Philadelphia and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; a half-sister, Erma Dusini and two half-brothers, Frank and Fred Debois.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with and Elk’s service being held at 6:45 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Theresa’s life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Jim Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
