Theodore J. Fait passed away on August 20, 2002 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born February 14, 1920 to John and Rose Ann Fait in Colliers, W. Va., he was one of four children. Ted graduated from N.P.H.S. in 1938 and began working for Allied Machine, eventually becoming a tool-and-die maker. In the late 40’s the opportunity to teach arose, and Ted took a job with the New Phila Bd. of Ed. as a machine shop teacher, where he worked from 1947 until 1969. Having finished his Master’s degree from Kent State University, he became a teacher educator working from the main campus in Kent until his retirement in 1982. Following retirement, Ted took a part time teaching position with Stark Technical College, where he remained for 11 years, giving him a total of 46 years as an educator. Very active in the local community, Ted served as president of the Tusc. Co. Old Timer’s Baseball Association, was an avid bowler for 50 years, and especially loved the game of golf. He worked part time at Green Valley Golf Course and built golf clubs for several years. He was a life member of the Elks Club. Ted was instrumental in establishing the Buckeye Career Center Foundation and served as its president for 2 years. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Shirley, a sister, Kathleen Di Nicola, a brother, Robert, one son, Jan, three grandsons, Alex, Lyle, and Zach, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are a step-brother, Glen Martin, and a step-sister, Dorothy Martin Gervasi. Ted was preceded in death by a brother, Edward. To his golfing buddies Ted was known as “Teddy Bear” and they know that he now resides where the drives always stay in the fairway, the chips are always close to the hole and the putts never lip out.Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 22, 2002, at 5 PM, at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, with Father Paul C. Johansen officiating. The family welcomes everyone to join them for a reception at the Geib Family Center following the funeral service. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 22, from 2-5 PM in the funeral home.
