Thelma Miller

Thelma Lucille Miller, age 93, of Port Washington, died early Thursday, August 22, 2024, while in the care of Riverside Manor at Newcomerstown following a brief period of declining health. 

Born in Stone Creek, Ohio on December 20, 1930, Thelma was a daughter of the late John A. and Bernice Isnogle Wyler. 

She was a graduate of the former Stone Creek School and on September 14, 1958, she married David F. Miller, Sr. Together the couple had two sons and shared in 55 years of marriage prior to his passing on February 8, 2014.  

Thelma was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Stone Creek. She enjoyed crocheting, tending to her flowerbeds and being a longtime member of the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau. She was known for her excellent cooking and baking skills and caring for her family above all else. She cherished time spent with her family and extended visits with her grandchildren. 

Surviving are two sons, David F. (Joy) Miller, Jr. of Minonk, Illinois and Dale (Cheryl) Miller of Cedar Grove, Indiana; five grandchildren, Joshua Miller, Daniel (Liz) Miller, Jakob (Elyse) Miller, Nickolas (Ally) Miller, and Patrick (Jamie) Miller; seven great-grandchildren, Silas, Eli, Joel, Levi, Josiah, Rosie, and Haddie; a sister-in-law, Peggy Wyler of West Lafayette, one niece and one nephew. 

In addition to her mother, father and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law, June (Richard) Schlarb and Juanita (Don) Bates, and a brother, Donald Wyler. 

The family will greet guests on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 10 – 11 AM in the Zion Lutheran Church where Pastor Patty Abel will lead a celebration of Thelma’s life at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
