Thelma Marie Loveday, age 88, of Dover, died peacefully, Saturday, August 24, 2013, while in the care of Community Hospice House of New Philadelphia.
Born at Beach City, Ohio on February 17, 1925, Thelma was a daughter of the late Clyde B. and Frieda M. (Baad) Levengood.
Thelma was a 1943 graduate of Beach City High School and on December 1, 1946, she married Norman J. Loveday. The couple reared two daughters and celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to his passing on July 6, 2000.
An active member of Jerusalem Church at New Philadelphia, Thelma served as a member of the church Hostess Committee and worked in the church nursery for many years. Above all, Thelma enjoyed being with and caring for her family.
She leaves behind her daughters, Connie (Woodrow) Finzer and Bonnie (Kenneth) Markle all of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Eric (Darlene) Finzer of Stone Creek, Lisa (Chris) Lumsden of Columbiana, John Markle of New Philadelphia and Sarah (fiancé, Neil Burns) Markle of Silver Creek, New York; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Markle, Henry and Anne Lumsden and a sister, Freida E. Deal of Navarre.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Nicsinger and a brother, Clyde M. Levengood.
The family will greet guests on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Frank Sapp, Jr. will lead a service celebrating Thelma’s life on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home’s Chapel. Burial, alongside her husband, will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following services, all are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions in Thelma’s name be directed to Jerusalem Church 1417 Stonecreek Road SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or to the St. John’s Endowment C/O Jerusalem Church.
