Thelma Irene Case, age 83, of New Philadelphia, died early Tuesday morning, February 22, 2011, in Union Hospital at Dover, following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Parker and Lena Gruenig Reichman, Thelma was born on February 12, 1928, in her family’s Sharon Valley home.After attending the former Tuscarawas High School, Thelma married the love of her life, Robert L. “Casey” Case on November 3, 1947. Together, the couple would have six children and share in 54 years of marriage prior to his passing on March 31, 2002.Thelma was a wonderful caretaker for her family and enjoyed the years spent looking after not only her own children but also caring for her numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, Thelma enjoyed talking with others and sharing stories; playing games, especially Yahtzee and bingo and particularly looked forward to time shared with her grandchildren.She will be long be remembered by five daughters; Barbara D. Beaber of New Philadelphia, Vicki (Richard) Anderson of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, Phyllis (Jim) Barkett of Dover, Freda (Rick) Young of Dover, and Mary (Jim) Hunter of New Philadelphia; three sisters, Etta (Tom) Grimm, Kay (James) Grimm, and Rose (Alan) Walters; and a brother, Fred (Joyce) Reichman.12 grandchildren, Kathy, Bridgett, Becky David, Emily, Christina, Joseph, Crystal, B.J. Tiffany, Abby, and Sara; 24 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by an infant son, Bobby; and four sisters, Ruby Hogue, Grace Mahaffey, Caroline Reese, and Verna Garabrandt.The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 24, 2011, from 5:00 Â? 8:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Reverend Richard G. Rose will lead a funeral service celebrating Thelma’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday, February 25, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following services, the family wishes to invite guests to join them in the Social Hall of the Dover Alliance Church, where a meal and fellowship will be shared.
