Terry L. Mushrush, age 66, of West Lafayette, formerly of New Philadelphia, died late Tuesday afternoon, June 10, 2008, in Genesis Samaritan Hospital at Zanesville, following a sudden illness. Born February 6, 1942, at his family home on Red Hill, outside of Dover, he was a son of Harry F. Mushrush of New Philadelphia, and the late Lucille C. Rothacher Mushrush. Best known as “Big Mush” to his friends, he an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt, ride motorcycles and farm. For many years he worked for Larkin Excavating, and later retired from the former New Philly Welding. Terry was known for his expertise in operating a backhoe, once saving a man’s life by quickly and carefully opening a trench that had caved in. Most of all, Terry will be remembered by his family and friends for his ornery sense of humor and the ability to make something for dinner out of anything. In addition to his father, Harry of New Philadelphia, Terry is survived by a family that includes sons Kenneth (Veda) Hinzman of Hebron, Ohio, and Todd (Suzie) Mushrush of Newcomerstown, and four daughters; Lora (Harry) Best of Dennison, Tracie (Andy) Milarcik of Tippecanoe, Christy Mushrush of West Lafayette, and Heather (John) Jones of Uhrichsville, nine grandchildren; Renee Hinzman of Georgia, Nathan Hinzman of Dennison, Jordan Best of Dennison, Andrew Milarcik III and Tayler Milarcik, both of Tippecanoe, Justin Mushrush and Tayler Morris, both of West Lafayette, Jacob and Hope Jones of Uhrichsville, and one great-grandchild, Jeremiah Hinzman of Georgia. Two sisters, Barbara (Gib) Abel of New Philadelphia, and Deborah McDade of Dover, and a brother, David (Rose) Mushrush, complete the family. In addition to his mother, Terry is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Richard McDade. Friends are invited to call Friday evening from 6 to 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Brian Flood will lead a memorial service in the funeral home’s chapel at 7PM Friday.
