Terry Lee Gopp, age 70 of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, February 19, 2015 following a brief illness while in the care of Community Hospice House.
A son of the late Roland and Mary (Bour) Gopp, Terry was born at New Philadelphia on March 12, 1944.
He was a 1962 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and entered into the United States Navy. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam Campaign and retired in 1981 as a Chief Petty Officer. Following his retirement from the Navy, Terry returned to New Philadelphia and served as a custodian with Express Packaging at New Philadelphia.
In his free time, Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and competition black powder rifle shooting. Above all, Terry enjoyed sharing gifts with others and helping those who weren’t as fortunate.
He is survived by his nephews, Randy (Diana) Gopp of Sugarcreek, Allen (Kimberly) Gopp of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Todd (Naomi) Gopp of New Philadelphia; as well as numerous cousins, great-nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Eugene Gopp.
In keeping with Terry’s wishes, cremation will take place through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. Private burial, with military honors, will take place in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
