Terry L. Royer

Terry Lynn Royer, age 55, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.

Born in Aultman Hospital at Canton on December 1, 1956, Terry was raised in Mineral City and graduated from Tusky Valley High School in 1974.

On November 25, 1978, Terry married the former Denise Law and as a couple raised two sons.

Terry spent his entire life building others up and encouraging those around him to live their life to its fullest potential. For a number of years, he was employed by Stark State University and Lakeland Community College where he not only held leadership and manufacturing workshops but assisted as a consultant to firms needing those services.

For Terry, leadership and the development of others skills was not only important at work but with those in his church family at New Pointe Community Church. An active member of the Mentorship Program and a small group leader, Terry had a great deal of compassion for others and greatly enjoyed sharing his skills.

He was an avid Coca-Cola memorabilia collector who also enjoyed taking trips and visiting with family.

In addition to his wife of 33 years, Terry is survived by two sons, Jared Royer and Brice Royer of New Philadelphia; his mother and step-father Genevieve (Wilmer) Gorrell of Minerva; his step-mother, Wanda Royer of Scio; a brother, Roger (Cheryl) Royer of Dennison and a sister, Debbie (Scott) Sindeldecker of Maryland.

A step-brother, Steve (Kathy) Acheson of Iowa; a step-sister, Becky Germany of Scio; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews complete the family.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Roy Royer.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the New Pointe Community Church, 3950 State Route 39, Dover, Ohio. Pastor Dwight Mason will lead a service celebrating Terry’s life on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the church. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship following the service.
