Teddy Stone

Teddy Dewane Stone, 86, of Dover, passed away in Hennis Care Center at Dover on November 28, 2018.

Born in Mont Calm, West Virginia, on October 30, 1932, he was the son of the late Cletis Perry Stone and Myrtle A. (Bowling) Burton.

Teddy honorably served his country in the United States Marines. He also continued his education after high school at Baptist Bible College.

On May 10, 1975, Teddy married his wife, the late Cosby Fern Bowling Stone.

Teddy’s faith was nurtured at the Calvary Baptist Church. He also served as a foster grandparent with Job and Family Services. Additionally, he volunteered with the Boy Scout of America program.

Teddy’s professional career most recently spanned 17 years with the Tuscarawas County Library where he served as a security guard.

Teddy is survived by his children, Keith (Tami) Stone of Mineral City, Debra Atkinson of Daniels, West Virginia, Lisa Johnston of North Canton and Cosby Elizabeth “Beth” (Mark Hockenberry) Haslage of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Joel (Dannielle) Stone, Tod Stone, Rachel Moore, Christian Moore, Katherine Conklin, Cheilzie (Brooke) Taylor, Eileizia (Kenny Stemple) Taylor, Brandon Holt, Lexius Holt, Dathan Walker, and Spenser Walker; his brother, Woodrow (Darlene) Burton; and his former wife, Delsie Zornes. Numerous great-grandchildren complete the family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Teddy was preceded in passing by his daughter, Michelle Haslage; his step-father, Leniel L. Burton; grandchildren, Crystal Atkinson, Marie Conklin; his great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Reid; and siblings, Douglas Stone and Jeraldine “Jerry” Stone.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 5 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service in Calvary Baptist Church at New Philadelphia. A meal will follow in the church fellowship hall.
