Ted E. Knisely, 64, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, November 15, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family, in Community Hospice-Truman House at New Philadelphia, following a year-long battle with lung cancer.
Born at Dover, Ted was the son of the late Walter E. Knisely and Harriet R. (McCutchen) Knisely and a 1977 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Ted had worked for the former Shanabrook Plumbing at New Philadelphia and retired from McIntire Plumbing at New Philadelphia after many years of service.
Ted was a huge Cleveland sports fan and also followed Ohio State football. He was an avid reader, especially of American history, and had a vast collection of books. He enjoyed building models of WWII aircraft, ships, and tanks. He also possessed a collection of guitars and enjoyed turning the amps up and making the house windows shake. The most important thing to him, however, was his family and he was extremely proud of his two sons.
On June 14, 1980, Ted married Cindi L. McKimmie and together they shared over 43 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Ted is survived by his two sons, Joseph Knisely (fiancée, Brenna Hiironen) of Parma and Alex (Kami) Knisely of Stow; a brother and sister-in-law, Tim (Patty) Knisely of New Philadelphia; a sister and brother-in-law, Peg (Doug) McIntire of New Philadelphia; two nieces, Holly Knisely of Lakewood and Kelly McIntire of Uniontown; a great-nephew, Michael L’Amoreaux of Uniontown and a brother-in-law Spence L. McKimmie of New Philadelphia.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his infant sister, Michelle Rae Knisely and his lifelong friend, Ron Snider, with whom he is now reunited.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 18, 2023 beginning at 9:30 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia, where a celebration of Ted’s life will begin at 10:30 AM with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will be in Schoenbrunn Meadow Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the entire staff of Community Hospice for their care and compassion, and ask that memorial contributions be directed to Community Hospice-Truman House, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or online at https://www.myhospice.org/options-giving.
