Tammy Kay Gleaton Cooper, age 44, of New Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 31, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover. Born at Dover, November 25, 1965, she was a daughter of William Gleaton of Middletown, Connecticut, and the late Shirley Ann Lovell Gleaton. Tammy attended New Philadelphia High School and earned her GED while studying to become a medical technician. She was affiliated with several area medical practices before becoming a home health aid, and enjoyed her most current work at Mary Zifer’s Pizza at Dover and New Philadelphia. On July 3, 1996, she married Steve Cooper, who survives of New Philadelphia. Together they enjoyed being fans of the Pittsburg Steelers and attending family outings. Her family also includes a daughter; Brittany Gleaton of New Philadelphia, and two step-sons; Landon (companion, Samantha) Cooper of Dover, and Adam Cooper, also of Dover. A brother; Tracy (wife, Nedra) Lovell of New Philadelphia, and sister; Lisa (husband, Ken) Amos, of St. Pete Beach, Florida, also survives. A brother-in-law; Robert (wife, Ginger) Cooper, of New Philadelphia, and niece Makenna Amos, nephews; Mark and Cody Shuss, and Nathan Cooper, a great-nephew; Tyler Shuss, and two anticipated grandchildren due within the next six months complete the family. In addition to her mother, Tammy is preceded in death by her grandparents; Robert and Lucille Evans and Walter and Alpha Lovell, as well as numerous aunts and uncles. Tammy’s family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2010 from 2-4 and from 6-8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead funeral services for Tammy Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel.
