Tami Harper “Old Man Tami,” age 75, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, Friday, March 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia on September 3, 1947, Tami was the son of the late Garthright and Estelle (Venable) Harper.
Tami was a selfless man who was willing to give anything to help someone in need. He was an avid outdoorsman, who hunted and fished, but mostly loved to be around a fire with family and friends. He traveled many miles on a travel softball team. Tami loved to serenade people while traveling with many songs, especially those of Elvis and Conway Twitty. He was also known to enjoy a cup of coffee or a Pepsi. Tami was a carpenter by trade.
His family was most important to him. He loved to give his grandkids nicknames. Tami is survived by his children, Tonya Tate of Texas, Shelbi (Brennon) Pullins of Magnolia, and Casey France of Dover; grandchildren, Madison “Maddie”, Lyric “Chipmunk”, Cadence “Moose”, Brinlynn “Grinny” and Bennett “Hoss”; great-grandson, Schuyler “Big Sky”; and many friends who were considered family to Tami.
In keeping with Tami’s wishes there will be no public services. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation arrangements.
