Susan Marie Randles, age 55, of Atwood Lake, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008 in Union Hospital at Dover following a 2-year battle with ALS.Born October 15, 1953 in Akron, she is a daughter of Kenneth and Georgianna Merideth. After graduating from Old Trail High School, Susan continued her education and received a diploma in Nursing from Akron General. From that time forward, she gave unconditional love and compassionate care to thousands of patients at a variety of hospitals throughout her career. She always brought a smile to those around her and once you met her, she was your friend. The past 8 years of her career was with Mercy Medical in Canton as an ICU nurse.Susan loved living on Atwood Lake where she enjoyed late night boating, watching the stars, taking nature walks, and planting and tending to her garden. She was also fond of gathering with her North Shore Drive friends on Tuesdays to share in food and fellowship.Susan was very dedicated to her co-workers, patients, and most importantly, her family. She was married in 1980 to her husband, Fred Randles, who was her soulmate. Together, they raised their dear son, Mark (wife, Erin) Randles of Canton. Her grandson, Phoenix, was the light of her life bringing much love and laughter to her. She will also be missed by her siblings which includes, Tom (wife, Irene) Merideth of Florida, John (wife, Teresa) Merideth of Virginia, and Pam Merideth of Akron. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins complete her family.Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, located at 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover on Saturday, November 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. A service celebrating Susan’s life will immediately follow visitation at 4 p.m. Cremation will be conducted through the care of the Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.In gratitude for a life well lived, her family requests memorial contributions be directed to the Northern Ohio Chapter of the ALS Association, 2500 E. 22nd St., Cleveland, Ohio 44115.
