Susan Hershberger Weaver

Susan Hershberger Weaver, age 87, of Dundee, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family in the home of her daughter at North Canton, Ohio. Born at Mt. Hope, July 11, 1922, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Miller Hershberger. On November 28, 1946, Susan married Ura D. Weaver. Together the couple would observe nearly fifty-four years of marriage prior to his death in November, 2000. A homemaker her entire life, Susan found great joy caring for others whether in preparing large family meals, baking for a neighbor or loved one, or entertaining friends and acquaintances who visited her home. She delighted in spending time in her garden, quilting, reading and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all, Susan will be remembered as her family prayer warrior who never failed to express the importance of her Christian faith. She attended the Dundee United Methodist Church and more recently the Crosspoint United Methodist Church at Jackson Township, with her daughter.Her family includes her son, Ed “Jim” (wife, Doris) Weaver of Strasburg, and four daughters; Mary (husband, Charles) Frobose of Bucyrus, Ohio, Ada (husband, Herbert) Robinson of Strasburg, Betty (husband, Richard) Corder of North Canton, and Linda McAllister of Massillon. A brother, Isaac Hershberger of Marietta, Ohio, as well as nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren complete the family. In addition to her parents and husband, Susan is preceded in death by eight brothers; John, Ammon, Monroe, Dan, Jonas, Sam, Henry, and Albert Hershberger. A sister, Katie, is also deceased. Susan will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Dundee Cemetery during a private service Wednesday afternoon. The family will receive friends during an open house reception Wednesday from 4 until 7 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
