Steven Marsh, age 37, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 28, 2006 in his home. A son of Don and Loretta (Giddens) Marsh, Steven was born July 10, 1969, at Saline, Kansas.He was 1987 graduate of Claymont High School and studied Industrial Mechanics at Buckeye Career Center. Steven was once employed as a carpenter prior to his disability. Steven was an avid chess player and was a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.In addition to his membership in Alcoholics Anonymous, Steven was an active and valuable member of Advocacy, Choices & Empowerment, Inc. (ACE) in New Philadelphia for over two years. He had a big heart and was always there to offer support in any way he could to other members. He greeted each person that walked through the front door with a smile and immediately welcomed them as part of the “ACE Family”. Steven was elected President and served in that capacity from July 2005 until July 2006. During his term, he achieved many positive and memorable accomplishments. He helped plan the First Annual Founder’s Day Celebration. Steven was also instrumental in seeing that a memorial plaque was dedicated and placed in the clubhouse to help remember other members who passed away. He worked to help the agency receive a grant from the Marsh Foundation toward the purchase of a passenger van. Steven regularly wrote articles for the ACE newsletter and also served on the video committee and outreach committee. He worked tirelessly to pass the Mental Health Levy by stressing its importance to the community. Steven believed in ACE and loved it with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by all of the members and dear friends he leaves behind at ACE.Steven was a loving son, father and brother who had a huge heart.He is survived by his parents, Don and Loretta of Uhrichsville; his wife, Faye (Folmar) Marsh of Adamsville, Alabama; a son, Caleb Mitchell Marsh also of Adamsville, Alabama; sisters, Barbara “BJ” Dixson of Ft. Myers, Florida, Linda Marie Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida and Christina (Fiancé Ron Richardson) Marsh of Minerva, Ohio; brothers, Larry “Bo” Stephan of Ft. Myers, Florida and James Dean (Dawn) Marsh of Uhrichsville; nieces, Heather Marsh, Jenna Marsh and Mikehla Marsh; nephews, Cody Mitchell Marsh, James Tony Marsh and Brett Knepper; cousin, Audra Bagwell and other nieces and nephews living elsewhere.Family and friends will gather to remember Steven Friday afternoon at 3:30 in the Chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of the service. Members of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church will host a reception for Steven’s family and friends in their church social hall at Dennison following the service. Cremation will be conducted through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and send condolences to the family by visiting the funeral home’s website. Memorial contributions may be made to a fund established by Steven’s family in care of the Geib Funeral Home, 116 Second Street NE New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
