Steve Kimble, age 57, of Dover, entered his heavenly reward Friday afternoon, September 24, 2010, from his home overlooking the Brandywine Valley, and with his family at his side. Steve had courageously battled cancer with much support from his family and the community over the past year. Born at Dover, February 7, 1953, he is a son of Donna Harmon Schilling of Dover, and Harold (wife, Nancy) Kimble of Antrim, Ohio. Steve learned from an early age the value of giving his best effort to the work in front of him. His first job, while still a student, was to milk cows for a neighboring farm, requiring him to rise in the pre-dawn hours and ride his bicycle to work. Best known as “Puff” to his family and friends, Steve is a 1971 graduate of Dover High School, and attended Kent State University’s Tuscarawas Campus for two years before going to work with Formost Foods for seven years. Thirty-three years ago this week, Steve met his future wife while attending the Tuscarawas County Fair. He married the former Paula Wikoff on January 26, 1979, and the couple have loved, honored and cherished one another ever since. Just two days after his marriage to Paula, Steve went to work for Red Hill Development, a division of the Kimble Companies, serving faithfully for thirty-one years, until illness prevented him from continuing to work. Steve was a member of the Dennison Foursquare Gospel Church, and served on the church council. He was also a proud member of the National Rifle Association. Spending time outside whether hunting, fishing, or star-gazing and enjoying the light of a beautiful full moon from the family farm where Steve went to be close to nature, were some of his favorite pastimes. His family keeps many great memories of vacations, hikes, card games, and regular gatherings to solve the world’s problems in the shade of the maple tree in his front yard. Together Steve and Paula reared a daughter, Kasi, and a son, Chase, both of the home. A brother, Dirk (wife, Sherry) Kimble of Dover, a sister-in-law, Sue Kimble of Dover, Steve’s father and mother-in-law; Denny and Jan Kappeler Wikoff of Dover, a brother-in-law Mike (wife, Sandy) Wikoff of Dover, and three sisters-in-law Gail (husband, Ray) Roof, Ruthann (husband, Chuck) Kuntzman and Pam (husband, Randy) Frank, all of Dover. A half-sister, Jennifer Johnson and half-brother, James (wife, Sarah) Kimble all of Antrim, as well as two step-sisters and an extensive family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great nephews who complete the family. Steve is preceded in death by his brother, Roderick Kimble, his step-father Jerry Schilling, his maternal grandparents, Anna and Charles Harmon and his paternal grandparents, Wilma and Dan Kimble. Friends are invited to call Monday afternoon from 1-4 PM and from 6-9 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Pastor Rod Phillips will lead funeral services for Steve Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the Dover Foursquare Gospel Church. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. A luncheon reception will follow in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622, in gratitude for their exemplary care, or to the Steve Kimble Research Fund at Case Western Reserve University Hospital, c/o Donor Relations, 10900 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106 Â? 7035.
