Stephanie L. Yakley, age 42 of Uhrichsville and formerly of New Philadelphia and Sugarcreek a beloved daughter, sister, Auntie, and friend, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 while in the care of Community Hospice House as a result of complications from Ovarian Cancer.
A daughter of Bob and Judy (Shanower) Yakley of New Philadelphia, Stephanie was born at Dover, Ohio on January 22, 1972.
She was a 1990 graduate of Garaway High School as well as a graduate of the National Beauty College of Canton and for the past 20 years has been employed by Master Cuts at New Towne Mall.
She was a member of the Sugarcreek First United Church of Christ and loved vacationing at Siesta Key, Florida, spending summer holidays with family and friends at the Baltic Conservation Club and spoiling her niece and nephew.
In addition to her parents, Stephanie will be greatly missed by her best friends, her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Leann Yakley; her beloved niece and nephew, Ava and Aiden Yakley all of Dover and her roommate and friend, Clint.
Completing the family are numerous aunts and uncles, Don (Becky) Shanower, Ralph (Theresa) Shanower all of New Philadelphia, Ray (Barb) Shanower of Strasburg, Sally Yakley Wilson of Louisville, Kentucky; cousins, Shane Shanower of Stone Creek, Shana (David) Norman of Dover, Rocky (Courtney) Shanower of Sugarcreek, Sarah (Scott) Whiddon, Eddie Shanower all of New Philadelphia, Randy Shanower of Massillon their families, as well as many great-aunts and uncles who also loved her.
Also surviving are her fellow co-workers of Master Cuts, whom she considered to be her sisters and many friends and clients.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bert “Ed” and Dola Shanower and paternal grandparents, Grover, Jr. and Dorothy Yakley.
The family would like to thank all of Stephanie’s doctors for their wonderful care and concern during her illness: Dr. Trehan, Dr. Hopkins, Dr. Gibson, Dr. Ascent, Doctors Kraus, Matthews, Coblentz, her chemotherapy nurse, Patty as well as Dr. Harper and the Community Hospice staff.
The family will greet guests on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. An additional hour of visitation will take place in the Dover Funeral Center from 9:00 – 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 17 where Pastor Eric Rummel will lead a service celebrating Stephanie’s life at 10:00 AM. Immediately following services, all are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship in the Funeral Center’s Hospitality Room.
