Stephan Richard Moore, age 64, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, December 31, 2012, in the care of the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.
Born May 4, 1948, he was a son of the late Richard and Anna Mae Wyatt Moore.
A 1966 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Steve, as he was known by his family and friends, went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cuyahoga County Community College.
He’ll be remembered for his dedication to the Buckeye Career Center, having worked from the construction phase of the school building on University Drive through a thirty-two year career in the maintenance department where he retired in 2007 as foreman.
An avid sportsman, his memberships included the National Rifle Association, the Zoar Gun Club, and the Tusco Rifle Club. Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. At home, he enjoyed spoiling his pet terriers; Sheba and Duke.
He leaves behind a family that includes his wife, the former Ethel Annette McCown, who resides at New Philadelphia. The couple wed March 25, 1989, and are members of the First Assembly of God Church at New Philadelphia.
Survivors also include his four children; Samuel Stephan (wife, Joanna Leigh) Moore of Charleston, SC, Kimberly Rae (husband, Michael) Paris of Columbus, O, Stephanie R. (husband, Ron) Imer of New Philadelphia, and Leah Jo (husband, Trevor) Dunne of New Philadelphia.
He’ll be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Lauren Barbara Moore, Alyssa Joyce Moore, both of Charleston, SC, Sydney Lauren Paris of Columbus, O, Jessica Imer of South Carolina, Nikkole Imer of Martins Ferry, O, Kellie Teter, Nicholas Moore, Adena Funk, Tristan Imer, and Warren Dunne, all of New Philadelphia.
Four great-grandchildren; Rory, Noah, Dominick and Brody, as well as a sister, Ellen (husband, Tom) Kelker of New Philadelphia, completes the family.
In addition to his parents, Stephan is preceded in death by his first wife, the former Barbara June Dessecker. The couple wed in April, 1970, and she passed away January 9, 1986. Two pet terriers, Spike and Bo, are also deceased.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday, January 2, from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
Pastor Larry Fletcher will lead Mr. Moore’s funeral service Thursday morning, January 3, at 10:30 AM in the First Assembly of God Church, 742 Cookson Avenue SE, New Philadelphia.
Interment will follow in New Philadelphia’s Evergreen Burial Park.
