Stella A. Snyder, age 98, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.A daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Clara (Casto) Keebaugh, Stella was born October 7, 1910, at Limber Ridge, West Virginia.In 1946, Stella married Charles Snyder, Sr. and together, the couple raised a family that included three sons and following more than 36 years of marriage, Charles passed away in 1983.Stella was known to be an excellent seamstress and quilter. She also enjoyed tending to her African Violets and keeping house plants. With a giving heart Stella showed others the true meaning of unconditional love. Whether it be a family member or friend, Stella made sure that everyone was cared for. When family would arrive for a visit, there was always sure to be a plate of food waiting.Stella leaves behind a family that includes two sons, Charles (Stephanie) Snyder, Jr. of New Philadelphia and Ronald (Nancy) Snyder of Ravenna, Ohio; and daughter-in-law, Linda Snyder of Richwood, Ohio. Nine grandchildren, Charles R. Snyder, Melissa Snyder, Wendy Hart, Kari Mumau, Charles Snyder, III, Debbie O’Toole, Kim Schrutt, Beth Deeney, and Carol Snyder; and eleven great-grandchildren complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Stella is preceded in death by a son Larry Snyder, Sr., three grandchildren, Larry R. Snyder, Jr., Chad Snyder and Chase Snyder; two brothers, William G. Keebaugh, and Ollie Keebaugh; three sisters, Ellsie Currey, Dorothy Flinn, and Edra Keebaugh.The family will receive friends on Friday, February, 6, 2009, from 5:00 â?? 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor David Carrick, will lead a service celebrating Stella’s life in the funeral home’s chapel beginning at 7:00 PM. A visitation will also be held in the Casto Funeral Home, 802 Washington Street, Ravenswood, West Virginia, on Saturday, February, 7, 2009, from 1:00 â?? 2:00 PM. Pastor Gary Hughes will lead a service at 2:00 PM in the Casto Funeral Home. Burial in the Independence Cemetery at Sandyville, West Virginia will follow.
