Sidney Gail McCaulley, age 68, of Magnolia, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, morning in Aultman Hospital at Canton following an extended illness.Born August 3, 1939, at New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Kathryn Parsons Geib Finzer of New Philadelphia and the late Paul Geib, and a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. She married the love of her life, Robert McCaulley, on November 18, 1960, five months after meeting him at a bowling alley. They subsequently settled in Magnolia where they reared three sons and a daughter: Brian (Sharyn) McCaulley of Canton, Todd McCaulley of Magnolia, Jeff (Kelly) McCaulley of Villanova, Penn., and Lara McCaulley of Canton.Sidney was a familiar face in the Magnolia community, and a friend to all who knew her. She also was a loving and active mother, supporting her sons’ athletic and musical pursuits, and serving as an advisor for her daughter’s cheerleading squad. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and working as a cashier at the Bolivar Little Market, the Bolivar IGA, the Magnolia IGA, and the Giant Eagle on the Strip in North Canton.In addition to her children, her most precious gifts were her seven grandchildren: Kathryn (Katie), Steven, Brendan and Gavin McCaulley of Canton; Kennedy and Lauren McCaulley of Villanova, Penn., and Seth McCaulley of Canton.In addition to her husband, children, daughters in law and grandchildren, she is survived by two brothers, Terry (Patsy) Geib of Columbia, S.C., and David (Vickie) Finzer of Baltic; her aunt Evelyn (Joe) Smith of New Philadelphia; her uncle Jack (Renee) Parsons of Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Floyd Finzer, an infant brother Rodney Keith Geib, and grandparents Mary and Stewart Parsons.Friends are invited to call Friday (TODAY) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home’s chapel, with Pastor Stephen Kimbrel officiating, with burial to follow in Evergreen Burial Park.
