Shirley Schreiner

October 27, 1932 — August 30, 2013

Shirley Schreiner, 80, of Tuscarawas, died Friday, August 30, 2013 in her home while surrounded by her family.

A daughter of the late Homer and Frances (Clouse) Swinderman, Shirley was born October 27, 1932 at Midvale, Ohio.

On January 29, 1953, Shirley married the love of her life, Daniel Eugene Schreiner and the couple shared 29 years of marriage prior to Daniel’s passing in September of 1982.

Shirley was a member of the John Heckewelder Memorial Church at Gnadenhutten. She enjoyed traveling to Wheeling Island Casino to play slot machines and she also enjoyed playing Bingo. She also enjoyed crafting and completing jig saw puzzles. Most of all she cherished the company of her family.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Tom) Kochman of Gnadenhutten, Chris (Doug) Krocker of New Philadelphia, John (Staci) Schreiner if Gnadenhutten, Joan (Jim) Krocker of New Philadelphia and Dave (Beth) Schreiner of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Amy (Cliff) Haney, Adam (Keeley) Kochman, Dan (Dana) Krocker, Steve (Sabrina) Krocker, Cole and Hallie Schreiner, Andy and Abby Krocker, Morgen Schreiner and Cody and Ryan Miller; her great grandchildren, Garrett Haney, Sophie Krocker and Brantley Miller and her siblings, Margie Warner, Arlene (Thomas) Murphy, Audrey (Glenn) Mullett, George (June) Swinderman and Joanne Freeman.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Schreiner; a sister, Dorothy Paulun and two brothers, Donald and Kenny Swinderman.

In keeping with Shirley’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A private family graveside will be held in Clay Union Cemetery at Gnadenhutten.
