Shirley P. Davis, 73, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, July 10, 2006 in Union Hospital at Dover.A daughter of the late Walter L. and Grace (Helms) Breneman, Shirley was born August 13, 1932 in Vicksburg, Mississippi.She graduated from Dover High School in 1950 and she attended Bowling Green State University. She was formerly employed at the Tuscarawas County Library and also at the Ohio Department of Transportation for 37 years where for the last five years she served as the auditor. Shirley also worked as a caterer with her mother for 30 years.Shirley was formerly the Business Manager for the Tuscarawas County Philharmonic, a board member of the Center for the Arts and was involved in many other clubs as well. She also enjoyed quilting with her friends.She is survived by three children, Brock (Suzanne) Davis of Uhrichsville, Cecily (Ken) Fincher of Bolivar and Scott (Michele) Davis of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Nathan (Shannon) Davis, Jeremy (Neeley) Davis, Leslie Keffer and Lauren Keffer; one great granddaughter, Brooke Davis; sister-in-law, Ada Davis and numerous nieces and nephews.Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, D. Raiff Whitmire, her husband, John C. Davis who passed away January 7, 2002 and one brother-in-law, Robert Davis.Family and friends may call on Thursday, July 13, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Rev. Jim Borton officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the services, a memorial luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622, in memory of John and Shirley Davis.
