Shirley Jean West, 64, Midvale, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 in Grant Medical Center at Columbus, Ohio following a sudden illness.A daughter of the late Ward and Jeanette (McIntosh) Gatschet, Shirley was born December 27, 1942 at Cleveland, Ohio.Shirley was a 1960 graduate of Orrville High School. She graduated from the nursing school program in 1993 from Kent State Tuscarawas and was employed at Schoenbrunn Healthcare at New Philadelphia for the last 13 years where she currently served as the Assistant Director of Nursing.She had a special love for her children and grandchildren. The happiest moments of Shirley’s life were the gathering’s when all members of her family were together. She also had a love for the outdoors and she currently held a motorcycle endorsement.She is survived by her children, Robin (Donald) Kauffman of Orville, Tonja (Fiancé Gary Sims) of Dennison, Wayne (Fiancé Lee Ann Montgomery) Snyder Jr of Stone Creek, William Snyder of New Philadelphia, Brandi (Dave) Hogue of New Philadelphia and Lana West of Dennison; grandchildren, Christopher (Verna) Kauffman and Ashley and Kyle Kauffman, Eric and Christopher Anderson, Chelsea Green-Sims, Jessica, Lindsay and Harley Snyder, Heather and Kaylyn Montgomery, Joshua Carpenter, David, Michael and Sarah Hogue and Madison and Kadi Garrett; great-grandchildren, Preston and Alexis Kauffman and her former husband and friend, Everett West of Marshallville, Ohio.Family and friends may call on Friday, June 8, 2007 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William E. Deist officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
