Shirley I. Wikoff, age 79, of Dover, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, in her home following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Earl and Viola (Fox) Stine, Shirley was born on January 7, 1930, at New Philadelphia.She attended New Philadelphia Schools. In June of 1950, Shirley married Neil Wikoff and together the couple reared three children.Later the family relocated to the Massillon area where Shirley worked for a number of years as a floor nurse at the former Massillon State Hospital. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Army-Navy Club and Massillon Eagles where she held long-time memberships.She also found joy in spending time with her family and enjoyed outings with the “Girls Club”. Shirley was an avid fan of mystery movies, country music, and Rod Stewart. Additionally, Shirley enjoyed watching her daily soap opera television shows.Shirley is survived by three children, Lyle (Wendy) Wikoff of Dover, Kathy Toles of Massillon, and David (Patricia) Wikoff of Norfolk, Virginia; and a brother, Floyd (Elizabeth) Stine of New Philadelphia.Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren complete the family.In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, and three sisters.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, from 4:00 â?? 6:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Dan Legg will lead a service celebrating Shirley’s life in the funeral home’s chapel at 6:00 PM. Following the service the family would like to invite guests to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Auman Timbers Golf Center, 4120 State Route 516 NW Dover, OH 44622.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to any United States Veteran Charity of the donor’s choice.
