Shirley Ann Moffitt

Shirley Ann Moffitt, age 82, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, July 31, 2011, in Union Hospital at Dover.A daughter of the late David S. and Mary L. Hart Keeth, Shirley was born at Uhrichsville, Ohio on February 8, 1929.She attended Uhrichsville High School and married John R. Moffitt on August 25, 1971. The couple shared 26 years of marriage prior to John’s passing on March 2, 1998.Shirley devoted her life to her family. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and creating latch-hook rugs.Shirley will be missed by her loving son, Jim (Hallie) Garabrandt of New Philadelphia; a step-daughter, Cheryl Mackey of New Philadelphia and two step-sons, John R. (Cheri) Moffitt of New Mexico and Ronald “Pete” (Cindy) Moffitt of New Philadelphia.Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Keeth and an infant sister, Cora Keeth.The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 1 to 2 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead a celebration of Shirley’s life in the funeral home’s chapel immediately following visitation at 2 p.m. Burial alongside her husband will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
