Shelby Jean Schinke

September 29, 1938 — October 27, 2009

Shelby Jean Schinke, age 71, of New Philadelphia, died early Tuesday evening, October 27, 2009, with her family at her side.A daughter of the late Robert W. Studer and Grace (Border) Kenney, Shelby was born at Parral, Ohio on September 29, 1938.For over 45 years Shelby shared a life with her husband Chuck Schinke who passed away on February 6, 2006. Together the couple reared a large and extended family. Shelby enjoyed working along side Chuck for a number of years as she assisted him in his carpentry business. Throughout her lifetime, Shelby endured many obstacles but overcame each of them through perseverance. It was her perseverance that allowed her to help others overcome their own personal battles and through the years she and Chuck took in countless teens and young adults and taught each of them to be successful in their own lives. The word CAN’T was not in Shelby’s vocabulary and she would not allow it to come from others in her presence. Shelby looked forward to the times when the entire extended family would gather for holidays. She also enjoyed crocheting and shopping. Summer time brought on the new challenge of yard sales; as she was always looking for the perfect bargain.Shelby leaves behind many friends and a family which includes children, Larry “Angel” (Janice) Short of Uhrichsville, Richelle (Jim) Liberatore of New Philadelphia, Regina Kennedy of Dover, Fred (Tina) Solomon of New Philadelphia, Richard Grewell of Massillon, Mary McClish of New Philadelphia and Amy Beitzel of Wainwright and a sister, Mona Collar of New Philadelphia.Numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren complete the family. In addition to her parents and husband, Shelby was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Studer. In keeping with Shelby’s wishes there will be no public services. Cremation care will be handled through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. The family will hold a private memorial service celebrating Shelby’s life at a later date.
