September 13, 1943 — April 10, 2015

Sharon Sheaffer, age 71, of Dover, went to be with the Lord, on Friday, April 10, 2015, in her residence surrounded by her family.

A daughter of the late Harold William Korns and Margaret Ellen (Williams) Korns, Sharon was born at New Philadelphia on September 13, 1943.

Sharon was raised in Barnhill and attended New Philadelphia High School. On February 22, 1964, she married the love of her life, Terry. Together the couple enjoyed dancing, boating and camping at Tappan Lake and making those special trips to West Virginia when she got the “Wheeling Feeling.”

While Sharon may have attended New Philadelphia, she was a true Dover fan who also enjoyed cheering on her favorite sports teams, the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. She was also an avid NASCAR fan who had a great passion for #88, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

For 18 years, Sharon was a cashier for Buehler’s Food Market at Dover and in her free time, enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years; their sons, Tracy Sheaffer of Dover, Brian Sheaffer of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Christina Sheaffer of Dover and a granddaughter, Kristina Sheaffer of Akron; her siblings, Carolyn Garber of Dover, Lenny Malterer, of New Philadelphia, Phil Malterer of Georgia, and Kelly Korns as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father and mother, Sharon was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Ray Korns and her step-mother, Mary Lee Malterer Korns.

In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, private services will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with burial taking place in the Evergreen Burial Park.
