Sharon Rose Caris, 78, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Union Hospital at Dover, Ohio following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Richard “Dick” and Mary Skeldon, Sharon was born February 1, 1937 at Toledo, Ohio.
Sharon graduated from Bucyrus High School. Then, on June 23, 1956, she married the love of her life, Arland C. “Mike” Caris. The couple shared 54 years of marriage prior to Mike’s passing on July 14, 2010.
She was a woman of great faith and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Sharon greatly enjoyed her life with family and friends. She enjoyed playing Bridge and would do so wherever it was being played. Sharon, along with Mike, enjoyed the companionship of the “Friday Night Gang” and the many activities they took part in over the years. She also enjoyed luncheons with the “Hilltop Girls”. Sharon was an avid reader and also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles. Most of all, she cherished her family and spending time with them.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Rose) Caris of New Philadelphia, Douglas (Mary Ellen) Caris of Coatsville, Pennsylvania and Thomas Caris of Tampa, Florida; six grandchildren, Brooke (Patrick) Hostetler, Adam Caris, Tracee (Tom) Lasserre, Mitchell (Sara) Caris, Nicholas Caris and Carmen Caris; five great grandchildren, Isabella, Ryanne, Dillon, Logan and Dean and an expected great grandchild due in June; a sister, Judy (Joe) Rudolph of Centerville, Ohio; her nephews, Joe (Jennifer) Rudolph, Rob (Susie) Rudolph, Tim (Mindy) Rudolph and Kevin (Jill) Rudolph and their families; a cousin, Kate (Marty) Reagan and many dear and special friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike; a daughter, Kelly Anne Caris and a grandson, Timothy Stoiber.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake Service being held at 2 p.m. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
