Sharon Haswell, 75, of Strasburg, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Raymond and Virginia (Trimmer) McClelland, Sharon was born September 2, 1938 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Sharon graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1956. She was retired from the former Tuscarawas County Home where she worked as a secretary.
She was well known for her cookie baking and she enjoyed crocheting which she was recently doing to provide shawls to cancer patients. She also enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Haswell whom she married on October 19, 1956; her children, Tim (Carol) Haswell, Gaile (Craig) Romine and Ray (Kim) Haswell all of Strasburg; her grandchildren, Steven Haswell, Christian (Chelsea) Haswell, Spenser Border, Brittany Lunau and Allie, Jerrod and Kaylyn Haswell; two great grandchildren, Jake and Josie Lunau and a brother, Sam (Sue) McClelland of Richmond, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Linda Masters officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.
