Sharon Ann Felgenhauer, age 63, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in Union Hospital at Dover, following a brief illness.A daughter of the late John and Clara Hollingsworth Eklund, Sharon was born on January 29, 1945 in Union Hospital at Dover.As a lifelong resident of New Philadelphia, Sharon was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia and a long time employee of the New Philadelphia K-Mart Department Store prior to its closing.She loved being a cashier and with her naturally caring and compassionate personality, made Sharon a perfect fit for the job.The family reminisced about their mother’s love for Atwood Lake and the countless Sunday summer afternoons that they would spend swimming and enjoying each other’s company at the family cottage near the lake. Sharon had many passions in her life that included a love for lilacs and butterflies. Most importantly, Sharon was an avid fan of the soap opera, Days of Our Lives.Sharon will be sadly missed by her four children; a son, John (Penny) Felgenhauer, of Dover, a daughter, Lori (Ed) Caraballo, of North Olmstead, Ohio; a daughter, Karen (Roy, Sr.) Cool of New Philadelphia; a son Michael (Mellissa) Felgenhauer, of New Philadelphia; a brother Jeff (Nila) Eklund of New Philadelphia; and two nieces, Kristi and Stephanie. Additionally, Sharon adored her grandchildren and she will be deeply missed by all of them; Katie Robinson, and an expectant grandchild due in two weeks, Kyle Moulton, Callie Berndt, Connor, Jonathan, and Emily Caraballo, Ashley Felgenhauer, Roy Cool, Jr., and Amber Cool.In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, she has been cremated with the family holding private services at a later date.
