SFC John W. Haver

June 18, 1944 — November 29, 2013

SFC, John W. “Jack” Haver, Retired, age 69 of New Boston, Texas and formerly of Newcomerstown, passed away peacefully, Friday, November 29, 2013, with his family by his side.

A son of Mary Haver of Lincoln, California and the late John W. Haver, John was born at Cleveland, Ohio on June 18, 1944.

He graduated from the former Isleta Schools in Coshocton County and entered into the United States Army on June 10, 1963 for the next several decades, he served as a mechanic for the Army, Army Reserves and as a civilian contractor for the Army and Marines ultimately retiring from active duty in 2004.

For many years, he owned and operated Jack the Handyman in which he enjoyed helping customers and friends with remodeling or fix-it projects large and small.

John leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Geri Beitzel Haver; children, Todd (Sara) Haver of Dennison, Lori Lanzer of Eastview, Kentucky, Marcy Pearson of Bardstown, Kentucky, Tara (Bob) Goodman of Newcomerstown and Richie (Rachel) Haver of Sugarcreek and a brother, Gene (Beverly) Haver of Lincoln, California.

Completing the family are 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson, and numerous other family members and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Leda Jo Stires and a grandson, Cody Lanzer.

The family will greet guests on Thursday (Today), December 5, 2013 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and again Friday, December 6, 2013 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where a procession to the Stone Creek Cemetery will form prior to a 10:30 AM graveside service. Pastor Brian Flood will lead the 10:30 service where military honors will also be rendered.
