Scott Ridgeway Rook

Scott Ridgeway Rook, 56, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a lengthy illness.

A son of the late John and Vada (Boor) Rook, Scott was born May 27, 1958 at Dover, Ohio.

Scott graduated from Buckeye Career Center in 1977. Then on Septemer 1, 1979 he married the love of his life, the former Tami Milburn. Together the couple raised four sons, Derik, Jeremy, Jason and Dustin.

He had a construction background and has been employed by Carter Lumber at Uhrichsville since 2008. Prior to that he had worked at Lowes. Scott was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing. He enjoyed golfing also and even more so when Tami would ride in the golf cart with him. When not fishing or golfing, Scott enjoyed playing online poker, riding roller coasters at amusement parks, pitching horseshoes and taking long walks with Tami. He was also an excellent cook and was known as a grill master.

He is survived by his wife, Tami Rook; his sons, Derik and his fiancé, Michelle of New Philadelphia, Jeremy of New Philadelphia, Jason and his wife, Melissa of Canton and Dustin and his wife, Samantha of Canton; his grandchildren, Parker West, Gradyn, Gavin and Prentice Rook, Noelle Rook, Kyrie and Pria Rook and Bridget, Lorelei and Dallas Rook and his siblings, Gregory Rook of New Philadelphia, Pamela (Denny) Soures of Canton and Shirley (Paul) Adkins of Virginia.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Scott’s life will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Following the service a light reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
