Sarah Catherine Rudd, age 91 of Country Club Retirement Centre at Dover, and formerly of West Farmington, Ohio, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, August 20, 2005. Born January 25, 1914 at Morgantown, West Virginia, Mrs. Rudd was a daughter of the late James and Anna Thompson Miskimen. Her mother died at a young age, and Sarah and fifteen other children were reared by her father and stepmother Martha Miriam Miskimen, who is also deceased. Sarah was active in the war effort during World War II, putting aside her personal duties and specializing in welding landing barges from a factory near Warren, Ohio. Following the war, she was affiliated with I.T.T. Grinnell Corporation, working in the payroll department until her retirement. Together with her husband, she was instrumental in the formation of the former Big G Federal Credit Union, now a part of the Greater Warren Federal Credit Union. At home, Sarah was a skilled seamstress and an active gardener. She even took the time to can her harvest so her family could enjoy the fruits of her labor year-round. Following her retirement she began art lessons and took pleasure in presenting her family with her own works of art. On June 25, 1960, Sarah married Raymond Rudd, the two spent twenty-nine years together until his death on September 7, 1989.Survivors include a son; Aaron (Mary) Swank of Newcomerstown, and two daughters; Jane (Robert) Hashman, also of Newcomerstown, and Kristina (Kenneth) Allen Jr. of Bristolville, Ohio, eight grandchildren; Elizabeth, Anna, John, Thomas, Amy, Holly, Sarah, and Trevor, five great-grandchildren; Ian, Erin, Jennifer, Sarah, Allison and Noah, nine sisters and brothers; Betty Sell of Dover, Margaret Neff of Yardley, Pennsylvania, Jane (Bill) Colton of Cottonwood, Arizona, Harriet Everhart and David (Peg) Miskimen, all of Dover, Dan (Ruth) Miskimen of Columbus, Ohio, Paul Miskimen of Sacramento, California, The Reverends John and wife Sherry Miskimen of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, Hugh (Sandy) Miskimen of New Philadelphia, a sister-in-law; Rita Miskimen of Dayton, a brother-in-law; Don Ball of Dover, and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Sarah is preceded in death by a great-grandson, Aiden, three sisters; Mary Ann Walsh, Lucy Loader, and Charlotte Ball, and three brothers; Robert, Richard, and James Miskimen. Friends are invited to call Tuesday afternoon from 1 to 2 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at 5600 North Wooster Avenue, Dover. The Reverend Hugh B. Berry will officiate a funeral there at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Family and friends will gather for a reception following the committal service in the Geib Center at Dover.
