Sarah “Sally” A. Arnett, age 74, of Dover, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, late Tuesday afternoon, June 24, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover. Born at Lost Creek, West Virginia, July 30, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Eugenia Lewis and Orlie Mills. Best known as Sally to her family and friends, she completed high school, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Mary’s Nursing College. Having earned her RN, she served St. Mary’s Hospital at Clarksburg, West Virginia, as head nurse at the time she met and fell in love with her husband, Herbert Arnett. The couple wed June 21, 1958, and just last week observed their fifty-first wedding anniversary. Together they resided in Coshocton for nearly twenty years, and for the past thirty-four, in Dover, where Sally was a homemaker. She’ll be remembered for her fondness of animals and for her generosity to those in need. Survivors include her husband, Herbert, of Dover, two sons; Matt (wife Juli) Arnett of Dover, and Shannon Arnett, of Hilliard. Three grandchildren; Noah, Max and Zoie Arnett of Dover also survive.Two sisters; Jean Randolph of Lost Creek, West Virginia, and Mary Lee (husband William “Mac”) McMorrow of Charleston, West Virginia, complete the family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Arnett is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Paul Randolph. Sally spent most of her life as a private person, preferring the comforts of home. In keeping with her wishes, no public visitation or service is planned. Instead, her family will lay her to rest in Dover Burial Park following at private ceremony at the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
