Sara (Sally) E. Betche, 88, of Country Club Retirement Center peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 27 following a short illness. Born in Flushing, OH on March 30, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Menapace Leonardi and was a 1936 graduate of Flushing High School.A resident of New Philadelphia until May, 2005, she retired from the New Philadelphia City Schools food service department in 1980 with 14 years of service.Sally was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Senior Citizens and Altar Society. Sally enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and was an avid card player.On November 13, 1946, Sally married Forrest V. Betche, who survives, and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Richard (Annie) Dalpiaz of New Philadelphia, Ken (Sherry) Betche of Dayton, one sister, Laura Bisphan of Lyndhurst, OH and one brother, Al Leonardi of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren, Brian Dalpiaz , Eric Dalpiaz, Chris Betche, Alison (Chris) Forsythe, Amy (Ken) Hall, brother-in-law, Wesley Ninman of Colorado, sister-in-laws Jean Hale of Oklahoma and Hilda Betche of New Philadelphia, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.Sally was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Paul Dalpiaz, two brothers and two sisters and a grandson, Scott Dalpiaz.In keeping with her wishes, Sally has been cremated without a public visitation. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 6th at 1:00 pm at Sacred Heart Church. Sally’s family will receive callers at the church before the service and interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Anyone wishing to remember Sally with a memorial contribution to a charity may do so to the Herman-Dalpiaz Scholarship Fund, c/o New Philadelphia Quaker Foundation, 343 Ray Avenue NW, New Philadelphia or Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
