Sara Ley, age 84, of Dover and formerly of Sugarcreek, died peacefully, Sunday, March 17, 2024, while in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover on December 22, 1939, Sara was a daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy (Snyder) Harris.
She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. After graduation Sara began a long career as a nurse’s aide. She worked at Walnut Hills Nursing Home for 15 years, A Better Home Care for 14 years then completed her career at New Dawn for 7 years.
Sara is survived by her children, Patricia S. Adams of Sugarcreek, Gary (Betty) Ley of Dundee, and Timothy (Carrie) Ley of Clay City, Indiana; special granddaughter, Stephanie (Doug) Cross of Dennison; special great-grandson, Hunter D. Cross; son-in-law, Jim McConnell; and brother, David (Sue) Harris.
In addition to her parents Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Lester whom she celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2015; a daughter, Debra Ley; and sister, Judith (Jim) Allison.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Bill Eckert will lead a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park following the funeral service.
