Sandra Kay Mercer Scott, 59, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Union Hospital at Dover following a sudden illness.A daughter of Beatrice (Miller) Mercer and the late Robert E. Mercer, Sandy was born August 16, 1951 at Dover, Ohio.Sandy was a former employee of Park Village Nursing Home at Dover having worked there for more than 25 years.She enjoyed fishing, cross stitch and collecting teddy bears. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friendsIn addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, James A. Scott, whom she married on February 11, 2010; two sisters, Jean (Ron) Kimble of Dover and Bella (fiancé, Brian Hunt) Harding of Tuscarawas; two brothers, Richard P. Mercer and Gary (Sarah) Mercer both of Dover; a step daughter, Candy (Dale) Beatty of New Philadelphia; four step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; her best friends, Stella Vickers of New Philadelphia, Carol Mizer of Dover and Chris Ramsey and Linda Bechtel both of New Philadelphia and numerous nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews.Sandy was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Robert E. Mercer Jr.In keeping with Sandy’s wishes, private family viewing and services will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
