Sandra Kay Metzger Lumbert

Sandra Kay Metzger Partee Lumbert, age 61, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family Saturday morning, June 20, 2009 at Park Village Healthcare Center in Dover following a courageous battle with cancer.Born January 30, 1948 in Dover, O., she was the daughter of the late Doyle and Iona Canfield Metzger.Sandi spent much of her early years in Arizona, Arkansas, and Illinois before ultimately moving to Ohio. She graduated from Mountain Home High School in Arizona in 1966 and continued her formal education at the University of Illinois. In Tuscarawas County, Sandi attended church at Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church where she was an active participant in the church’s garage sale and was also a Sunday School teacher and past trustee. Her professional career as a realtor allowed her the privilege of meeting and assisting many area families find the perfect home. She will be missed by her colleagues at Expert Realty in Dover where she was employed for 15 years.Most notably, Sandi enjoyed being a mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were most important to her and she loved spending time with them any time she could.She will be greatly missed by her children, Trudi Jill Edwards of Zoarville and Timothy Doyle Lumbert of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren Alexis Kay Lumbert, Lauren Edwards, Jaden Grace Edwards, Cristen Halstead, James Doyle Lumbert, Joshua Halstead, and Tyler John Lumbert; her sister, Carol Sue Marshall of Arkansas; and her two brothers, Jerry Lee Metzger and Thomas Doyle Metzger, both of Florida.In keeping with Sandi’s wishes, no public calling hours are scheduled. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Tuesday, June 23 beginning at 11 a.m. with Dr. Mary L. Burkhart officiating. A reception will be hosted in the funeral home’s Hospitality Center immediately following the service.
