Sandra Kay Dunn, age 66 of Mineral City, passed away early Friday evening, March 29, 2013 following an extended illness.
Born at Dover, October 28, 1946, she was a daughter of Anna Houze Patrick of New Cumberland and the late Green J. Patrick. She was a 1964 graduate of Tuscarawas Valley High School.
Best known as “Sandy” to her family and friends, she was a self-taught, from-scratch cake decorator, who was widely sought after for occasions from weddings to graduations and birthday celebrations. She delighted in making a good day better and making others feel special.
Sandy was a familiar face at the former New Philadelphia Airport Restaurant where she served guests for more than a decade. Her hospitality was second to none resulting in scores of get-well cards sent her way following devastating injuries she sustained in a car accident in October, 1993.
At home, Sandy was a talented landscaper who took meticulous care of her garden, but who was also equally comfortable cutting the grass aboard her riding mower complete with a straw hat.
She’ll be remembered by her family for her warm and generous spirit who loved all of God’s creatures – from pets to deer. Sandy responded to the needs of the most needy among us – having provided a Christmas for two area families just this past holiday season.
Survivors include her husband of forty-seven years, James Dunn of Mineral City. The couple wed May 1, 1965 and together reared a family that includes a son, James Brian Dunn who died at the age of 10 in 1976 shattering the hearts of the family.
She is lovingly remembered by her best friend and daughter, Stacey (husband, Troy) Harvey of Copley, Ohio and her two grandsons; Jake Harvey of Oxford, Ohio. and Bryce Harvey, also of Copley, Ohio.
A sister, Karen (husband, Sherman) Burkhart of Mineral City completes the family.
In addition to her father and son, Sandy is preceded in death by her brother, Dan Patrick.

Interment will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery.
