Sandra Kay Carlson, age 57, of New Philadelphia died peacefully early Wednesday evening, February 18, 2009 in Union Hospital at Dover. Born at Dover, August 25, 1951, she was a daughter of Helen Carlson Weaver, who resides at Canton. Sandra is a longtime resident of the Kaderly Group Home operated by caregivers from Horizons, Inc. She formerly was affiliated with Starlight Enterprises Inc. and for the past four years, has actively participated in the Horizon’s Avenues of Adventure program. Christmas was a favorite season for Sandra. She was known to celebrate the season for nearly half of the calendar year. From the first sign of snow through the bleak and gray days of spring, Sandra could be found filled with the Spirit of Christmas. Sandra looked forward to her weekly walks with friends, and never missed an opportunity to participate in birthday parties and the social events held in her home. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her step-father, Gerald Weaver, also of Canton, half-brothers; Gerald (wife, Jean) of Elyria, and Gary (companion, Laura Anderson) of Massillon, and a sister; LeAnn (husband, Jim) Lilly of Tempe, Arizona. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, as well as her many friends and caregivers at the Kaderly Group Home, who complete the family. Friends are invited to call Monday, February 23, from 2:30 â?? 3:30 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Sandra’s longtime Sunday School Teacher, Dave Millard, of First Baptist Church, will lead a celebration of her life at 3:30 Monday. Family and friends will gather for a reception in the Geib Center following the service. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
