Sandra K. Beamer Sullivan, age 68, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, August 11, 2011, in her home following a brief illness.Born at Canton, Ohio on July 3, 1943, Sandy was the daughter of a World War II Hero, the late Lenard Beamer. She was raised by her mother the late Mary Salisbury Beamer- Linard and her step-father, the late Noble Linard.Sandy was a 1961 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the Aultman School of Nursing. For more than 30 years, she provided care to thousands of mothers and infants as a pediatric nurse at Union Hospital at Dover. On August 1, 1964, in the First Church of the Brethren at New Philadelphia, Sandy married the love of her life and husband of 47 years, Ray Sullivan; and as a couple, they reared three children.Sandy enjoyed caring for her family and keeping them well fed with her cooking and baking skills and in her free time she enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and traveling. For the past several years, she has enjoyed the fellowship of those she encountered through her membership at Community of Christ Church at New Philadelphia.In addition to her husband, Sandy will be missed by her three children, two daughters; Kimberly (fiancé, Robert Armstrong) Sullivan and Tamara (husband, Robert) Lomax all of New Philadelphia; and a son, Michael (wife, Kelley) Sullivan of Brightwood.Completing the family are five grandchildren, Dean Jarvis, Elizabeth Jarvis, Tom Lomax, Ben Lomax all of New Philadelphia and Drew Sullivan of Brightwood.In addition to her father, mother, and step-father, Sandy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Edna Beamer and John and Ella Salisbury.The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 14, 2011, from 2:00 â?? 5:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Priest Rebecca Lawrence and Elder Robert Lawrence will lead a celebration of Sandy’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, August 15, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. with burial to take place in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following services, the family wishes to invite guests to join them for a memorial reception in the social hall of the Community of Christ Church at New Philadelphia.The family requests memorial contributions in Sandy’s name may be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
