Samuel L. Pake, 87, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully in the Community Hospice House on November 2, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Philadelphia on September 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Arthur and Alice (Brinkman) Pake. Sam attended New Philadelphia High School and after completing his formal education, he began working with Nehi Bottling Company as a bottler. Then, he continued his professional career with The Timken Co. in New Philadelphia as a supervisor.
Sam’s faith was nurtured at Faith Christian Church in New Philadelphia. He was also a life member of the New Philadelphia B.P.O.E. #510. Woodworking was also a talent with which he was gifted.
On June 12, 1948, Sam married his lifelong companion and friend of 67 years, the former Marybelle Carruthers. Together, they enjoyed raising their son, Samuel A. (Lisa) Pake of Dover. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Samuel L. (fiancé, Amanda Dombrowski) Pake, Stacey N. Pake, and Scott J. (girlfriend, Kasadie Oliver) Pake; his sister, Hope Gopp; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his grandson, Steven Michael Pake; and his sisters, Faith Catcott and Wanda Meese.
A Memorial Service will be held in Faith Christian Church at New Philadelphia on Saturday, November 14 beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Inurnment will follow the service in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends are welcome back to the church following the burial where Sam’s church family will host a reception.
