Ryan Dale Peterman, age 38, of Dennison, Ohio was welcomed into his heavenly home on Friday, August 3, 2012 from Akron General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born on June 23, 1974, at Morehead City, North Carolina, Ryan is a son of Dale and Deb (Hillyer) Peterman of Dennison.
He was a 1992 graduate of Claymont High School and continued his education at West Liberty College where he earned his degree in Education.
On August 15, 1998, Ryan married the former Tressa Burkhart in Park Christian Church at Dennison, where the family maintains an active membership.
For the past 20 years, Ryan was employed by the local 7-UP distribution plant at Midvale where he has worked as a salesman for the company. Although he didn’t actively pursue a career in classroom education, Ryan made it his job to be a mentor and teacher in many other ways.
He was passionate about teaching young children the fundamentals of one of his favorite sports, baseball. For the past seven years, he has served numerous teams in the Twin City Little League; often coaching two teams in different age brackets per season. Not only did Ryan serve as a coach to each of these young people but took the time to learn about and care for each one personally. Ryan was also an active member of the Board of Directors and served as the organization’s Secretary.
Ryan used his one of a kind sense of humor to impress upon others the importance of living each day to its fullest potential. Those who understood him knew he was a kid at heart and knowing this trait explains why he always ended up in the toy section of any store he ever entered.
Among his other joys in life, Ryan enjoyed helping his father work on computers, servers, and networks for clients of his business, Elad Computer Services. He was also a fanatic about online video gaming.
Over the years, Ryan learned to appreciate the time spent in fellowship with his father and family and later valued the times shared with his children during special fishing trips. As a family member, Ryan will be missed as the person who was always there to lend a hand no matter what the task. He loved the opportunities he was given to spend time with each individual as they worked together in meticulously completing each job at hand.
In addition to his parents and wife of nearly 14 years, Ryan’s legacy will forever be precious to his three children, Tristan, Davin and Valicia. He continues to be a proud older brother of his siblings Chad (Heather) Peterman of Dennison and Staci (Drew) Dunn of Uhrichsville and a beloved grandson to Harold Peterman of New Philadelphia.
Four brothers-in-law, Thom Burkhart of Parral, Ohio, Zach (Lauren) Burkhart of Dover, Cory Dechiara of New Philadelphia, and Gerald “Scoot” Price of Pennsylvania; three sisters-in-law, Chelsea Dechiara, Destinee Dechiara both of Dover and Harlei Price of Pennsylvania as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved nieces and nephews complete the family. Additionally, he will be deeply missed by numerous friends whom he considered to be family.
Ryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Betty Peterman; maternal grandparents, Edwin “Bud” and Marcella Hillyer and a sister, Heidi Peterman.
The family will greet guests during a memorial visitation on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in Park Christian Church at Dennison. Scot Caley, will lead a celebration of Ryan’s life in the church’s Worship Center on Tuesday evening at 7 PM. Following the service, the family would like to invite guests to join them for a time of food and fellowship in the church social hall. Cremation care has been conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
Those wishing to do so may direct contributions in Ryan’s name to the Ryan D. Peterman Memorial Fund c/o First National Bank of Dennison, 105 Grant Street, Dennison, Ohio 44621.
